Privacy Notice
Effective 30 October 2026 · privacy@biblestudygroup.co
This notice describes how Clearspan Bible Study, the operator of biblestudygroup.co, handles information when you use the site.
Information we use
- Account details: email address, optional display name, password hash, account dates and the hashes of sign-in tokens. We do not store readable passwords.
- Saved fellowships: group name, invitee email addresses, meeting time and time zone, repeat schedule and study plan.
- Meeting details: participant names, study stage, chat messages, shared thoughts and meeting-control signals. We do not provide a call-recording feature.
- Browser data: drafts, bookmarks, highlights, notes and preferences may stay in your browser storage rather than sync to your account. Clearing that storage can remove them.
- Service activity: basic events such as a meeting being created or joined, the device class, time and technical errors help us keep the service working. These records use pseudonymous identifiers and may remain after temporary room data expires.
Why we use it
We use account and group information to provide the features you ask for, keep your sign-in working and show your saved plans. We use limited technical activity to protect the service and diagnose problems. We rely on your device permissions when you choose to use your camera, microphone or optional voice features.
Who processes information
- Cloudflare hosts the website, database and stored media used by the service.
- The site requests scripture text from Bible API when a passage is not already cached. The request contains the passage reference.
- Live calls use browser WebRTC. If a relay provider is enabled for a meeting, that provider may process connection data and media needed to carry the call. Bible Study does not store call recordings.
- If you open a YouTube video, YouTube receives information under its own privacy terms. If you enable browser speech recognition, your browser or its speech provider may process microphone audio to return text.
- If a future or connected scene-generation service is used, the passage and prompt you submit may be processed by that provider. The site does not generate a new scene for every reading automatically.
We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Email invitation delivery is not currently configured on this site.
Voice features
Voice reading and dictation start only when you choose them. Dictated words become an editable draft; the site shares that text only when you choose to send or save it. Drafts may stay in your browser. Bible Study does not save microphone audio from these tools, though your browser’s speech service may process it as described above.
How long we keep it
Account and saved fellowship information stays until you delete your account. Deleting an account removes its saved groups and sign-in sessions. Temporary room and session records follow their expiry and cleanup rules. Limited pseudonymous service activity may be kept for as long as it is useful for reliability and security.
Your choices and rights
You can download account and saved fellowship data or delete your account from the Account page. You can turn off your camera, microphone or voice capture at any time. Depending on the law that applies, you may also have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the use of your information, and to request a portable copy.
For a privacy request, email privacy@biblestudygroup.co. If you are in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Security
The site uses HTTPS and stores passwords as salted, slow password hashes. Sign-in tokens are stored as hashes and sent to your browser in a protected, HttpOnly cookie. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so use a unique password and avoid sharing your account.
Changes and contact
We will update this notice if the service’s data practices change. For privacy questions, email privacy@biblestudygroup.co.
